Obituary for Sonja Paula Clodgo
Sonja Clodgo, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at her home in Essex. Sonja was born in Germany on October 8, 1930.
Sonja was a hard working woman that graciously accepted the responsibility of maintaining the family circle while at the same time holding a steady career working with children and watching them grow under her guidance and supervision during her employment with the Essex Jct. school system.
After retiring from the school system Sonja was involved with helping out her family by maintaining a home enriched with love and understanding. While the parents were at work, she was always willing to help in any way possible while maintaining a smile and an open heart.
Sonja especially loved spending time with her family. She loved the large family get togethers, backyard barbeques, pig roasts, birthday parties and holidays. This allowed her to spend more time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren who she loved so much.
Sonja was predeceased by her husband, Walter and grandson, Kyle. She leaves behind her children, Walter (Donna) of Richmond, VT, Karen (Dean) of South Carolina and Michael (Betina) of St. Albans, VT, as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at Mansfield Place for their unwavering support and care, and Bayada Hospice Care for helping her through her final days. Per Sonja’s wishes, a memorial service will be private and held at the convenience of her family.
