Obituary for Samuel William "Bill" Johnson, Jr.

Samuel William "Bill" Johnson, Jr.
Samuel William Johnson Jr., age 62, passed away on Friday, June 29, 2018, at the Central Vermont Medical Center. Samuel was a resident of Waitsfield, Vermont.
Samuel William Johnson Jr. (aka “Bill”) was born in Augsburg Germany to Samuel William Johnson and Barbara Mercelis Johnson. Bill was raised in Plainfield, New Jersey. He graduated from Plainfield High School in 1974. He received his Bachelors degree in Political Science and History from New York University in 1978.
Bill lived and worked in New York City for many years. He worked in Public Relations and Marketing for Ralph Lauren, Motor Boating and Sailing Magazine and other companies. In the early 1990’s, Bill moved to Central Vermont. He continued to work in Public Relations and Marketing. However, a life long passion for cooking led him into a career as a chef. Bill was the chef and manager of a Bed and Breakfast operated with his friend in Waitsfield Vermont. Their business also planned and hosted special events. Additionally, he worked for many years as the chef and manager for a private ski club at Sugarbush Mountain.
Bill loved cooking, history, reading, old movies, and laughing. He enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and pets; especially at his families’ camp on Lake George in New York. He was a caring and supportive son, brother and friend. Bill was an excellent listener and was devoted to those he loved. His family and friends loved him and will miss him very much.
Predeceased by his mother Barbara M. Johnson in 2014, and his father Samuel W. Johnson and brother-in-law Edward Carey III in February of 2018, Bill is survived by his siblings – Jill Johnson Carey, Susan Johnson Allen and her husband David J. Allen, Darby Johnson Flood and her husband Gene Flood, and Jeff Peter Johnson and his wife Caryn Castaldo Johnson; and 8 nieces and nephews – Katie, Edward, and Barbara Carey; Gene, Sam and Olivia Flood; and Trey and Julia Johnson.
Per Bill’s wishes, no funeral services are being held. Bill’s family will be honoring his life privately.
Bill’s family is very grateful to the caregivers and staff of Central Vermont Home Health & Hospice as well as Central Vermont Medical Center for their extraordinary care.
To honor Bill, online memorial donations may be made to Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice @ www.cvhhh.org.
