Richard “Dick” Paul Laplante, Sr., age 82 of Essex Junction, passed away peacefully Monday, September 11, 2017 after a long battle with cancer and diabetes at UVM Medical Center surrounded by loved ones.
Richard was born on May 1, 1935 in St. Albans, VT to Adelade and Chester Laplante, who predeceased him. He is also predeceased by his brother Leon and his sisters Thina and Evelyn.
He is survived by wife Edna Laplante; his sisters Elaine Belisle and her husband Morris, Shirley Jacobs; his children Sherry Phelps and her husband Jay, Wayne Emmons, Brenda White and her husband Jamie, Richard Emmons, Bonnie Clark and her husband Keith, Lisa Johnson, Chantelle Parker, Ted Rounds and his wife Diane, Tammy Hughes and her husband Brian, Robert Laplante, Richard Laplante Jr., Jeff Rounds and his wife Rita, Floyd Rounds and his wife Marsha, Cheryl Rounds and Libby Hoyt; his nieces and nephews Bonnie Weserbee, Raymond Many and his wife Jackie, Lisa Horrigan and her husband Lawrence, Raymond Lee and his wife Connie, Lauri Belisle and her husband Harold Garrett, Scott Belisle and his wife Tina Horton, Dylan Belisle and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A celebration of Richard’s life will be held at Oakledge Park, Flynn Avenue, Burlington VT at 12:00 Friday September 15, 2017. A reception will follow where family and friends can share their memories of Richard with one another.
It is asked that those attending do not wear black but instead wear bright colors to celebrate his life.
