Dr. Dan Bean

I first met Lefty over coffee in the St. Mike's coffee shop where he was doing a little homework. I was curious about finding him there so introduced myself and joined him. We quickly connected over his marine service (I had been a navy Corpsman with the First Div in 1955-6.) Over the years he studied at St. Mike's we had more coffees and more stories. Our last brief meeting was before a recent SMC Playhouse play so I was surprised to hear via the Marine Corps League of his passing. I will miss the opportunity to meet Lefty now but will always remember his enthusiasm toward studying and of course baseball. He never tired of showing me his latest MVP card from the leagues he attended. I'm sure he touched all those he met in special ways and will be present in many memories.
